Insulation Rebates
It can pay to reinsulate! Here are some of the local insulation rebates available to homeowners when making certain energy-saving upgrades. The U.S. Department of Energy’s DSIRE database is also a helpful tool for homeowners who want to determine their eligibility for certain incentives.
NOW is the time to reinsulate!
By upgrading the insulation in your home, you may be able to get money back. The U.S. Federal Government is offering a tax credit of up to $500 (10% of the material cost) for homeowners who make certain energy efficiency upgrades in their home, like adding insulation. This tax credit applies to your principal residence, and the work must be completed by December 31, 2021. Don’t miss out on this chance to get money back for reinsulating your home. Please contact us if you have any questions about how you can take advantage of this unique opportunity.
You may qualify if you’re a Minnesota residential customer living in an existing single-family home or in a multi-unit home up to four units that has insulation professionally installed and whose primary residential heating fuel is supplied by Xcel Energy. Upgrades include attic insulation and bypass sealing, wall insulation, air sealing and weather stripping, and an approved contractor like Reichel Insulation must complete the work. Visit the official rules and regulations page for more information.
By improving the air sealing and insulation in your home, you can save on your heating and cooling costs all year long. The rebates provided by Minnesota Energy Resources help customers with natural gas heating improve the sealing and insulation in an existing home. New homes, defined as built in the last two years, are not eligible for this program. Homes that participated in the Home Energy Excellence program may not participate in this program. Prior to insulating your home be sure to visit the Minnesota Energy Rebate Page for more information on the rules and regulations on getting the rebate.
